Air conditioning in Albuquerque, NM used to be done with evaporative coolers (Swampers to those who have been here a while).  However, the greater comfort of compressor driven units is gradually displacing the evaporative units.  I for one, will not miss the fun and games of getting a swamp cooler to work properly while wondering if this is the year I fall off the roof.
